Nursing Today

There are many new roles and responsibilities faced by nurses today and the most important of them all is the new responsibility of being more flexible and knowledgeable than ever before. Since patient populations, health care systems, and nurse competency demands are ever changing, nurses today must be able to constantly undergo a transformational process, change, and gather new information. Nurses work on the front lines and must do everything possible to help patients get the best care possible. Throughout it all, the nurse must maintain the stance of being a caring person and maintaining caring relationships with patients and others.

I wouldn’t agree more with the statement that caring is the most important concept in nursing practice. But when I thoroughly review this statement, I question myself. Do all nurses exhibit these virtues? Is every nurse compassionate and committed to quality nursing care? I bet not all of them... but the majority of nursing professionals are hardworking, dedicated individuals that care with passion about their patients and provide the best possible nursing care.
